Venice Starts Charging an Entry Fee to Visit the City

The government of Venice, Italy, has started charging an entry fee to visit the city, for a total of 5 euros.

Anyone over 14 who wants to visit the city between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. has to pay for the pass.

To pay, go to the official website set up by local authorities.

Keep in mind that if you don’t pay this entry fee, you could face fines of up to 300 euros per person.

When they pay the Venice entry fee, travelers get a QR code that they must carry at all times in case inspectors ask for it.

If you can’t get on the website, the pass can also be bought at Santa Lucia train station.

There are exemptions from the fee, which you can check on this website.

Children under 14, who don’t have to pay, can prove their age, if it isn’t obvious, by showing a document that confirms it.

The goal of this measure is to control the crowds of tourists who come to this Italian city.

Keep in mind that the fee isn’t charged on some days, but you should confirm each date on the official website.
