Pokémon Theme Park to Open in Japan in Early 2026

In spring 2026, between March and April, a new theme park dedicated to the Pokémon franchise, PokéPark Kanto, will open in Japan.

According to a press release, it promises visitors an immersive experience inspired by the franchise’s earliest video games.

The park will sit in a natural area of roughly 26,000 square meters, where visitors can explore trails, towns, and habitats from the Pokémon world.

“We want to create a place where Pokémon are always around and where everyone can have fun with them,” said Junichi Masuda, creative director at the Pokémon Company.

The new Pokémon theme park will feature a route of more than 500 meters that mimics wild paths, hills, and caves, where visitors can find hidden characters.

There will be houses, a Pokémon Center, a souvenir shop, a gym, and just two rides.

The space aims to give tourists a one-of-a-kind experience that blends entertainment, nature, and excitement.

The Pokémon Company plans to merge the world of Pokémon with the real world by bringing the Kanto PokePark to Japan’s Kanto region.

And that, of course, is meaningful, since the first Pokémon game, Red and Green, was based on Kanto, and the name is almost as popular as the franchise’s mascot, Pikachu.

Since Pokémon took its first steps in Kanto, it seems fitting to build this Pokémon theme park in the same place.

This park will definitely look to draw the huge number of fans the franchise has around the world.
