Juan Santamaría International Airport has opened a video game room with a variety of consoles, also known as a gaming room, that’s available to all travelers using the terminal.
It covers 57 square meters and has a total of 9 stations, with games for PC, virtual reality, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Formula 1 simulators.
You’ll find it between gates 4 and 5, and it’s open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Playing costs $10 for 15 minutes, $15 for 30 minutes, or $20 for 1 hour. Keep in mind that value-added tax is charged on top of these prices.
The room is suitable for people over 12, although younger kids can come in with an adult.

The new video game room has more than 30 different game titles across all the consoles.
Travelers can also buy snacks and drinks to enjoy while they’re there.
Each station allows a maximum of 2 players at a time, and if there are more people, you have to pay for each additional person.
“The initial plan is for 2 years, with the possibility of expanding the space and extending the term, and we know this is a trend that’s moving around the world,” said Fernando Catro, CEO of Red Global, the company behind the concept.
Erick Barboza of Aeris, the terminal’s operator, explained that this is the first airport in the region to have a gaming area.
“We know travelers’ expectations are evolving, and we want to offer new and different options,” Barboza said.
