Canadian carrier Porter Airlines will start service to Guanacaste Airport in Costa Rica on December 4, with flights from Ottawa and Toronto, Canada.
According to the airline, the route from Toronto (YYZ) will fly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, from December 4, 2025, to March 5, 2026.
Flights from Ottawa (YOW), meanwhile, will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from December 13, 2025, to March 7, 2026.
Both are seasonal routes, flown on Embraer E195-E2 aircraft that seat 132 passengers.

With its arrival in Guanacaste, Porter Airlines will become the only airline connecting Ottawa, Canada, directly with Costa Rica.
Guanacaste is also the airline’s first destination in Central America.
The company has announced that all fares include complimentary premium Canadian snacks, along with free beer and wine.
Travelers will also get fast, free Wi-Fi for the entire flight.
“During our recent tour of several Canadian cities, we confirmed that interest in Costa Rica is growing, and these new routes represent opportunities,” said William Rodríguez López, Costa Rica’s Minister of Tourism.
Cesar Jaramillo, manager of Guanacaste Airport, said Canada is a strategic market for the terminal and that it has grown compared with 2024.
“In the first quarter of 2025 alone, there was a 2.6% increase compared with 2024, with Toronto as the top source market for tourists,” he said.
According to the Costa Rican Tourism Institute, a total of 257,395 Canadian tourists arrived in Costa Rica by air in 2024.
