If you’re flying Iberojet, keep in mind that the carry-on allowance is one bag up to 56 x 45 x 25 cm plus a personal item up to 35 x 30 x 20 cm. The catch: the two can’t weigh more than 10 kg combined. It’s included in every fare, even the cheapest.

Iberojet announced that as of August 1, 2024, it changed the carry-on size limits on its flights to and from Europe, allowing 6 centimeters more in height than the previous limit. The change applied to all passengers, no matter when they bought their ticket.
Iberojet Carry-On Size Limits
Those measurements include handles, pockets, and wheels, and the cabin bag goes in the overhead bin. The personal item can be a purse, a small backpack, or a laptop, as long as it fits under the seat in front of you.
So yes, you can bring a carry-on and a purse on Iberojet, but keep in mind that the weight adds up: if the bag weighs 8 kg, the personal item can’t go over 2 kg. Infants 0 to 2 get the same allowance, and the rest of the conditions are on Iberojet’s baggage page.

The bag size matches the general reference from IATA, the international airline association, but each carrier sets its own limits, so when you compare flights, check which bag each airline allows, not just the ticket price.
If you know the airline as Evelop, the rules are the same, since Evelop Airlines S.L. is the company that operates as Iberojet.
What Happens If Your Carry-On Is Over the Weight or Size Limit?
Iberojet says the bag may not be accepted for boarding or may be charged as an extra checked bag, based on its checked baggage fares. On the Madrid and Costa Rica route, the first 23 kg bag costs €80 or $100 online and €160 or $190 at the airport, at November 2026 prices, although at the airport the price at the counter prevails. That’s why it’s a good idea to weigh your bags before you leave home.
If the problem is a lack of cabin space, the bag can go in the cargo hold at no extra charge, as long as it’s within the allowed size. And if they take it from you at the gate, Iberojet asks you to tell the staff what’s inside, so they can catch items that aren’t allowed in the hold, such as spare batteries.
The airline had already warned about this enforcement in 2024: Iberojet tightens its baggage policy.

What You Can’t Bring in Your Iberojet Carry-On
Liquids must be in containers of up to 100 ml, inside a clear resealable bag of no more than 1 liter. On flights to or from Costa Rica or the Dominican Republic, 350 g or more of powdered substances also isn’t allowed in the cabin, although this doesn’t apply to prescription products, powdered infant formula, or duty-free purchases in a sealed bag.
Power banks and e-cigarettes travel in the cabin only, and you can’t use or recharge them on board. Power banks are limited to two per person, up to 100 Wh each. Scissors, meanwhile, aren’t allowed in the cabin if the blades are longer than 6 cm.
Musical instruments fly free in the cabin up to 30 x 120 x 38 cm if they replace your carry-on, and they cost €30 or $40 if they go in addition to it. The rest is on Iberojet’s prohibited items list, and the general list is in what you can bring in your carry-on.
Iberojet Flights from Costa Rica
As of July 2026, Iberojet flew nonstop between San José and Madrid on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and together with the Costa Rican Tourism Institute it announced a third weekly flight on Thursdays starting in late November.
If you’re only bringing a carry-on, check in online, which opens 70 hours before departure and closes 1 hour before. Otherwise, you have to go to the counter to get your boarding pass, even if you’re not checking a bag. Keep in mind that the counter closes 60 minutes before the flight, and boarding closes 30 minutes before.
