Panama’s Copa Airlines has announced how it will help travelers affected by the grounding of its Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft.
The airline is rolling out four specific measures that travelers can choose from, including asking for their money back.
Diana Mizrachi, Copa Airlines’ director of experience, was the one who laid out the details.
First, the airline is offering to rebook travelers on new flights as close as possible to their travel date.

As a second measure, Copa Airlines has waived flight change fees, offering availability to travelers who pick a different travel date.
It’s worth noting that the airline’s spokesperson said there won’t be any additional charges.
Third, travelers have the option to cancel the trip and leave the ticket open for use at a later date at no extra charge.
Finally, travelers who decide to cancel their trip will receive a full refund of their ticket, no matter what type of fare they bought.
According to the company’s executives, the suspension of flights on 737 MAX 9 aircraft represents 20% of Copa Airlines’ daily operation.
That means the airline is canceling about 80 flights a day on average.
According to Pedro Heildron, the airline’s CEO, even if the inspection happens soon, they still can’t be sure when they’ll be able to use the aircraft again.
