Avianca Brings Back Free Carry-On Bags on All Its Fares

Low-cost airline Avianca announced that starting January 27, 2026, it will once again include a 10-kilo carry-on in all of its fares on the international flights it operates.

The move comes after the airline changed its fare model several months ago and left only a personal item in its cheapest fare.

According to Avianca’s press release, the goal is for people to be able to “travel more comfortably and lighter without paying extra.”

Avianca also said this perk, the included carry-on, will apply only to tickets purchased after January 27, 2026.

In other words, if you bought your ticket before that date, it won’t apply to you.

A look at the airline’s website confirms that the change is already in place.

In late 2025, Avianca tested bringing the carry-on back in Costa Rica as a pilot program.

Although it said there was no date for learning the results, barely 2 months later the company has rolled it out on all of its international flights.
